Construction of the selected design for the 2018 Jim Vlock Building Project, won by Team G. The house was a partnership between the Yale School of Architecture and Columbus House - a non-profit organization in New Haven which seeks to help those at-risk or currently experiencing homelessness.

The house is a hybrid construction of Cross-Laminated-Timber (CLT) and typical light wood framing with both on-site and pre-fabrication methods.

Construction

While all students worked on the construction of the house through May and June, a smaller group of interns stayed on through July and August to continue.

I had the privilege to work on many aspects of the final house including: framing, roofing, siding, decking and more. Images included highlight my contributions to the project.

Completion

I stayed on through the fall semester as the teaching assistant to the build faculty in order to complete the project for the open house. Work in the fall included finish detailing work around the house and coordinating finished landscaping and planting.
